Audit Service Commission Sri Lanka State Audit Service Audit Officer Vacancies 2026 Applications are accepted for Sri Lanka State Audit Service Audit Officer Vacancies 2026.

The open competitive examination is designed to select 244 suitable candidates to the post of Audit Officer, Class III of Grade II in the field/office-based service category of the Sri Lanka State Audit Service.

Applications are to be submitted online through the Department of Examinations by eligible Sri Lankan residents. The online application will open at 9.00 a.m. on 14 September 2026 and finish at 9.00 p.m. on 12 October 2026.

Audit Officer Salary 2026

The remuneration scale for the role of Audit Officer is as under:

Rs. 64,610 10 x 1,190 11 x 1,360 15 x 1,670 Rs. 116,520

The applicable pay scale is AS 01-2025, and the entry pay scale is Rs. 64,610. Other allowances as may be sanctioned by the Government for the post may also be allowed.

The audit officer will be a permanent and pensionable position. The successful candidates will be placed on a three-year probationary period.

Educational Qualifications

Candidates should have one of the educational/professional qualifications stated in the official recruitment notification.

One of the main routes to eligibility is a recognized degree in accountancy, commerce, or business/state management with accountancy or auditing as a major subject.

Other acceptable qualifications include several professional tests conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka or the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka.

Candidates holding a higher diploma or higher national diploma in accountancy or commerce awarded by the institutions indicated in the Gazette may also be eligible.

An alternative qualifying route is offered to candidates who hold recognized degrees in relevant subject areas in information technology, computer science, computer engineering, and computer technology, subject to the conditions set out in the recruiting announcement.

Age Limit

The minimum age is 22 years and the maximum age is 28 years as on the closing date of applications i.e., October 12, 2026 for general candidates.

Applicants born on or before October 12, 2004 and on or after October 12, 1998 are eligible to apply if they meet all other requirements, the Gazette reported.

In regard to officers already in the Public Service, the age shall not exceed 45 years.

Other Eligibility Requirements

All applicants must:

  • Be citizens of Sri Lanka.
  • Be of excellent moral character.
  • Not be a member of the clergy of any religion.
  • Satisfy all required qualifications by the closing date of applications.
  • Be physically and mentally fit to serve in any part of Sri Lanka and perform the duties of the post.

Examination Fee

The examination fee is Rs. 1,200.

The fee can be paid through the payment facilities provided by the online application system, including:

  • Bank credit cards
  • Bank debit cards with online transaction facilities
  • Bank of Ceylon Online Banking / Flex App
  • Any branch of the Bank of Ceylon

Applicants should ensure that the correct amount is paid. Applications involving an overpayment or underpayment of the examination fee may be rejected.

Public officers who apply for the examination should also provide a copy of their application to the head of their institution for inclusion in their personal file. The required certified documents should be produced when called for the interview.

Audit Officer Examination 2026

The competitive examination is scheduled to be held in Colombo in December 2026.

The written examination may include the following subjects depending on the qualification category under which the applicant applies:

Number of Question Papers

Candidates have to appear in three question papers, based on the qualification category under which they are applying.

Applicants in the accountancy-related qualification category are needed to sit for the IQ paper and at least one paper from financial accountancy or auditing, in addition to the requisite third paper.

Candidates under the other specified qualification category will have to take three papers including the IQ paper.

The candidate should clearly specify the relevant category of qualification in the application. This is not changeable.

Minimum Marks and Interview

The candidate must have a minimum of 40% marks in each paper of the written examination and total average of minimum 50% to be considered for the interview.

The interview will be utilized for authentication of educational qualifications of the candidates and other relevant information. There will be no points for the general interview.

Selection for Appointment

The selection will be based predominantly on the highest scores received in aggregate in the three written examination papers.

The Gazette said the degree-based qualification category may be filled to the extent of 10% of the Audit Officer posts.

The number of appointments and effective date of appointment must be set by the Audit Service Commission in accordance with the vacancies available at the time of recruitment.
