A gazette notification has been issued by President’s Secretary upon the directives of President Maithripala Sirisena declared a state of emergency within the country from April 22 onwards.The government has decided to gazette the clauses related to prevention of terrorism to emergency regulations.
An emergency law grants the police and the military extensive powers to detain and question suspects without court orders go into effect.
