Homoeopathy Medical Degree Scholarship 2026/2027 with Indian Government Sponsorship

Applications are now open for the Homoeopathy Medical Degree Scholarship 2026/2027 offered to Sri Lankan students with sponsorship from the Government of India.

The scholarship programme has been announced by the Indigenous Medicine Section of the Ministry of Health and Mass Media for eligible students who wish to follow a Homoeopathy Medical Degree programme in India.

According to the official announcement, 10 Sri Lankan students will be selected for the programme for the 2026/2027 academic year.

Homoeopathy Medical Degree Scholarship 2026/2027

The selected students will have the opportunity to study at the National Institute of Homoeopathy (NIH) in Kolkata, India under the sponsorship of the Government of India.

The duration of the Homoeopathy Medical Degree course is approximately 5 1/2 years. After successfully completing the programme and obtaining the required registration with the Homoeopathy Medical Council, graduates may have the opportunity to practise as qualified Homoeopathy Medical Practitioners.

Scholarship Details

Eligibility and Educational Qualifications

Applicants are required to meet the educational and age requirements specified by the Ministry.

• Candidates must have passed Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the Science stream at the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination.
• All three main subjects should have been passed in one sitting.
• Applicants should also have a pass in General English at the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination.
• A Credit pass in English Language at the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination is required.
• Applicants should be between 18 and 25 years of age as at September 25, 2026.

How to Apply for the Homoeopathy Medical Degree Scholarship

Eligible candidates should prepare their own application containing the information requested by the Ministry.

The application should clearly include the applicant’s name, address, date of birth, age, contact telephone numbers and educational qualifications. Applicants should provide both fixed-line and mobile contact numbers where available, as the Ministry has indicated that suitable contact details are important for communication with candidates.

The application should also include the years in which the applicant passed the G.C.E. Ordinary Level and Advanced Level examinations.

Certified copies of relevant educational certificates should be attached to the application.

The words “Homoeopathy Medical Degree Scholarship with Indian Government Sponsorship – 2026/2027” should be written on the top left-hand corner of the envelope containing the application.

Selection Process

Applicants will be considered according to merit after their qualifications have been verified. Suitable candidates will be selected through an Interview Board.

The Ministry has also stated that applicants with the highest qualifications will be called for the interview. The final decision regarding the selection process will be made by the Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Mass Media.

Air Ticket and Other Information

The Ministry has stated that arrangements will be made to provide only a one-way air ticket for departure to the applicants who are finally selected for the scholarship programme.
